well...i changed out my powersteering box, and refilled it. when i filled it up i used some regular powersteering fluid by vavoline and bled the system. then i wonder how much it will take, so i crack open the haynes and find out that i need to use "type f" fluid, and on the back of the bottles i got it says its ford type c/d...

the stuff that was in there was the same color of the stuff i put in, so i'm not sure if that was type f either. are there any real differences between the c/d and f? do i need to flush the whole system?

yup. gear oil too.

im running 80w90 gear oil in mine because it leaks pretty bad. For the win, eh?
meh, I lost a seal on my ps box and dumped 2 quarts of ps fluid, 4 quarts of oil then all I had left was 2 quarts of 85w140. so, ya, anything goes. :toothless

I use a baster to remove power steering fluid; don't do this if the fluids are not compatible. I've tried everything. Nothing gets rid of the whine.
saginaw will get rid of the whine. :thumbup

Either should work but I accidentally mixed them in my Thunderbird (didn't check to see what it had in the reservoir before adding) and it mucked up the pump. Main reason was probably already on the way out but I'm sure the mix didn't help any.

yes ATF is one of the only things you should run in the steering, as for flushing it out i just remove the low press return hose, cap the nipple on the reservoir, start it and turn the wheel lock to lock while someone fills it with ATF untill clean fluid comes out the return hose

someone might have a better flushing method
