I would say that new Blazer rear leafs with an add a leaf would be very close to 8" lift. This may be slightly stiffer than the bastard junkyard pack I'm using, and would give a little more height. Wider 38's may still rub on stock fenders unless you limit your uptravel to under 5" or so.

Okay. Thanks. Excuse my ignorance when it comes to Blazers, but I assume that 52's are from the older fullsize Blazers (80's year range)? So I could get a 2" lift pack for one and should be able to call it done.

Ok. So I have read through this whole thread and didn't really see what I was looking for. Has anyone used a "non junkyard" new leaf packs, that didn't have to have leafs tuned or removed? Essentially, I am looking for what would equal 8" of lift on a TTB setup. I saw project86 was running 38's but needed a body lift and some massaging to not rub.
I used new 4" leafs (48" long) and the got me 4" of lift, and that is with the shackle in the frame.

During mock-up, we had the shackle below the frame and tried 52" long 4" leafs, and got around 6-7" of lift, at least.

So, it all depends on how you are doing your shackle.

Definately will be shackle below the frame. I will look into some 4" lift packs then. I also saw another SAS where flamedfordbronco used 4" F-350's and can clear 42's. Way to high for what I want.
Ya, 4" springs should get you pretty close. Here are some pics of what I was talking about.....

I have a 95 f150 that i already coil sprung sas. Not too happy with its performance off road. I picked up a Dana 60 from a 92 and am going to leaf spring my truck now. I live in Wisconsin so i am mostly in the mud , little bit of trail riding. My question is what leafs is everyone using on thier trucks. I want a good ride on road with some flex also. I want to fit 38 to 40 inch tire. My truck right now has room for 38s with the coil springs so i want the lift at roughly 8 inches over stock. I would like front crossmember between frame rails, maybe 1 to 2 inches under rail also. Plan on using 4x4 1/4 wall square for the front member. Feed me all the info I can get PLEASE!!!!

Haven't bought them yet but it is a toss up between the 52" Blazer pack which people say rides and flexs good, or a stock F-350 pack that people say rides like a truck. I am leaning more towards the F-350 pack honestly. My truck doesn't see much offroad out here in DC.

Ive heard the blazer spring got a little bit much flex for and street driving. I have to drive my truck north to the trails so I need somewhat good road manners. What f350 springs you thinkn bout using. 4inch lift or stock.
Anyone else using f350 spring out there with some info.

I was considering the same for the cross member. I think I'm just going to put 2x2 under the frame. I got a set of rear bronco leafs(5 leaf pack, no overload) that I'm going to put up front. I didn't really want to try to put 2 1/2 inch chevy springs in a hanger made for a 3" spring (the factory 250/350 rear one), and it's a few inches longer than the f350 and chevy springs = more flex. From looking at bearfoot's thread, it doesn't look like I'll have to cut up the rear mount to fit it around the body mount bracket like everyone else does. I'm gonna make my own front out of 4x4 (see dangeling dave's thread)

I agree about using ford leafs for the ease of install. I am looking at 4 inch lift gas engine superduty springs for my sas. They already have bushings in them and are same price as 4 inch 80-97 leafs w/o bushings. Any one ever use the superduty springs.

im in the process of putting them in, and Mr. Death has. Noone else to my knowledge has used them. Mr. Death no longer runs them because they ride like ass, the only reason im running them is because I already have them, eventually I plan on swapping them out for rear bronco leaves.

Look at flamedfordbronco's SAS. He used 4" F-350 springs and it put him high enough to run 42's. So I am going to try a stock F-350 leaf pack first for 38's.

Thanx for getting me to look at FlameBroncos truck. That thing is huge with 4 inch lift springs. I am going to revert to the stock f350 springs 4 now. I also have a 3 inch body lift on th 150 so the 38 shouldnt be a problem im guessing. Anyone dissagree let me know. Keep the info rollin in.

i don't know how many times i will have to say it. my truck drives way better with blazer springs than the f350 ones. f350 springs are just too stiff for the front of a bronco and do not travel at all. with f350 springs i had about 8" of usable wheel travel, with the blazer springs its more like 14". street driving is about as good as a 40" tired 6000lb short wheelbase truck could be, and i haven't run a sway bar since the truck was stock.

yeah the 4" springs are way too high, i'm going down to stock f350 springs or maybe chevy springs to try to come down some. those things ride super hard and have no flex all, if i end up getting the f350 springs in anytime soon i'll let you know how it is.

Suburban leafs?

I have been slowly gathering parts for a Leaf SAS. My son just bought 2 suburbans one is a mid-seventies 4x4 and the other is a 90 2wd both of these are for parts. I am hoping that there may be some usable springs on these rigs.

Anyone familiar with these springs? Once they are here I can measure them but it'll be a week before they are here. This does get me motivated to start back on the SAS.

70s f150 4x4 supercab is about all that you will find stock with that configuration. you could weld leaf perches onto a coil sprung axle too. the info as far as what swaps etc can all be found on google, pirate, here etc.
