I've been dealing with this slight rear end bumping, especially turning after a stop like when making a left at a light. There was this ratcheting feel coming from the passenger side wheel. This is after I installed new 4.56 gears, new axle bushings and new drum brakes. I went back and forth for a few days adjusting the drums but it would still happen. So I bought another set of drums thinking they must be out of round. Sure enough, dropped on the new drums and they turn smooth with consistent drag, no binding, catching or bumping. I think the first set were Raybestos and the second set were AC Delcos. Did some digging and heard the Raybestos are not the best and have quality control problems. I believe they are Chinese parts but maybe Delcos are too. You just never know what you are going to get from parts stores now days. Its a total crap shoot. I am hoping I gain another MPG with true drums. That would be nice.

Yeah, sounds like warped drums, out of round......

Been driving the '93, the escape has been acting strange, but, 316k hard miles......
Ran some errands, left some spent brass in at least 2 parking lots, lol. Right up front near the door, no less....

That's been one of my favorites for years. I especially like the "missoura boat ride" part. Me and wife did cowboy action shooting for a few years, were members of sass. They send a newsletter every month, like a old newspaper. Anyway, read an article about a chapter somewhere did one. You got in a small boat, with your rifle and a pile of ammo, they rode you down the river, you shot targets on the bank.

Anyway, been driving the '93 lately, gonna take it to work later. Yesterday, went back to the o'reilly to return a part, the girl of the guy trying to buy the '93 was there, clearly happy to see it. He was trying to get it for her.
Once grass cutting season stops, maybe i'll unhook the trailer from the '89, and run it up there, lol......
I had forgotten about cowboy action shooting. You got plenty of aroma therapy doing that!

Better be thinking of your "I don't want to sell it" price...

Here's your boat ride. I like the "How's it with stains?"

Oh, yes. I went all blackpowder very early on. Used to say there's nothing like the smell of burnt sulphur in the morning.
Oh, i have some numbers. While fsbs have sold for those numbers, they were fully restored, not survivor condition, like mine.
Yeah, the stains part was good, too. That movie was full of good stuff.
Wife works tonight, might have to watch that......
Again.....

Re-installed my TBP hubs PROPERLY, so now they aren't clanking and loose (see my other post), advanced timing a couple degrees to about 12 degrees base, then installed my new window washer pump. Works great. Took the wife and pups for a ride to go for a short hike around a local lake nearby.

Rust oleum rattle can smoke gray enamel paint on the hood. It's good from far, but far from good. Needs some touch up, then the rest of the panels are getting gloss white enamel. Stay tuned.

Little lady got home early, so we finally took her Bronco out so she could give it a little test run with the new borg shaft and st. wheel. Rather than make the dogs sit home and pout, we loaded them up for the quick trip up and down the local backroad. We didn't get to the end of the driveway before she tried to adjust the rearview and pulled it right off the window. Then, not even 1/2 way through and little Tucker gets the runs and drops a NASTY, runny sh!t right between the two front seats (no console, yet). OMG! We both gagged and nearly puked ourselves. Stupid little bastard ruined the test drive I've been waiting days for. Instead of a happy lil' lady and me finally getting my satisfaction after all the hassles that setup gave me... disgust and pet frustration instead.

She's satisfied she can drive it now but we'll have to see how well the sh!t cleanup went before she'll bother getting in it again. Can't believe it. I've had dogs puke when sick inside a rig but taking a sh!t?!? Just blows my mind. If it weren't for bad luck... 🤬

That's a mean trick feeding Tucker something to make him do that so that the little lady won't get back in it again so you'll have to take it over lol :ROFLMAO:

Well fellas it’s been a long time since I’ve logged in. I spent some time looking over my bko last night. The last time I had it out (few weeks ago) I was using a trailer and had absolutely no more than 2k lbs at any time behind the truck with a drop off and a pickup. It was a pretty hot day though. Well I ended up leaving an atf trail (E4OD) for as much as maybe 20mi by the end of the day. Just had to get home I didn’t have a choice, It wasn’t enough loss to effect drivability
Last night I looked it over. No recent use of the overflow spout on the top of the case, so must have been pump seal. I had it running last night for half hour or more then drove 7 or 8 miles.. no leaks and the dipstick showed full afterwards. I guess maybe I had it overfull?
It has a subtle whine on acceleration and I noticed a couple times before the incident that I had a shudder in 2nd or 3rd, can’t remember which. I didn’t feel it yesterday.

Anyways I feel like I have a rebuild in my future.
So that’s greeeeat…
Not looking to soup it up just want it to be solid. Any idea what I should expect to spend? Im guessing at least 3k.

edit: now that I’m thinking of it, I’ve never really been impressed with my 302… it’s at 170 mi now +/- … I wonder if I should use this opportunity to make some changes 🤔

Some folks really love the 302's but I've personally always preferred the 351w. I live rural though, so I'm not doing much stop/go, city mileage.
You've had both, so I'm not telling you anything new and you're the only one who knows what the future holds for you and your rig.
Cash options and what's locally available play pretty big rolls too. I did a pretty minor stock rebuild of my 95's 351w awhile back but things have changed out there too much to guess on costs.
Welcome back. Hope the road ahead goes smoothly, regardless of your choices.

Yes I agree my half ton with the 351 feels so much more capable, I’ve done a lot with it. It too is waiting for a pump seal though… the half ton with the 300 I have retired due to severe frame rot. I’ve toyed with putting it and mazda five speed behind it in my bronco as it is super fun to drive. Not fast, but fun. However it’s got 273k mi on it so to not rebuild them would be stupid. Cost and time for that seems more than I want to get into at this time.
The 302 does fine to move the bronco and a passenger or two and no more cargo than the back end can hold. But almost anytime I’ve pulled a trailer you really see its weakness. It may just be the one I have though.

Gears can make up for a lot of that but even w/4.56 in my '90 302, I could still feel the difference when towing.
I end up towing a lot more than I ever expected but the '95 is all I have for it. Just gotta make sure weight distribution is setup for the short wheelbase.
My '73 F250 is plenty capable but on long highway runs, I feel like I'm pushing the 360FE/C6 a bit too hard. That's why it's licensed with "Farm Truck" tabs.

Drove it to work and back again yesterday. Had to... was using my firebird as work commuter. Wednesday afternoon on the way home, I got smacked and spun by a pickup who left his stop sign without looking. Car is totaled, sub-frame damage. He had a 2024 Sierra and his bumper smacked the rear quarter and shoved the axle over 4". He launched off the stop sign to smack me that hard, did a 180* into a yard, almost hit the house but did hit their vinyl fence and stone work which spun me for a full 360*. Oh well, good 12 year run with the old girl, took me to Florida round trip, and Maine twice. I'll get another someday.

It’s almost unbelievable the people I see here in Ky on their phones while driving. We don’t have a hands free phone law. Maybe we should idk.
