Sorry been out of town visiting family.

I picked it up in March of 2013. My plan was going to be a trail and cruise around town vehicle. since has became more trail than cruise. I bought it had no motor but the 4 spd trans was still in it.

had nice new carpet in it and was dark when I finally got to it and and did not see the rust everywhere. It did have some pop riveted stuff covering the big holes.

Wow Stuart I forgot you did all that panel replacement in there. Nice work.
thanks rick. I had plenty of that to do in the front and the rear. figured I would not go crazy with those pics.

looking forward to this, all have nice rigs. good luck to all!!

Took the Bronco on it's first trail ride since the restoration today, what a blast!
I forgot how much fun these trips are.
We drove almost 100 miles today about 70 of it on dirt.
It was me and a couple of friends, one in his 66 Bronco and the other in his 70 F100 2wd.
He did very well considering it was 2wd, had to take a couple of bypasses but he hung in there.

Stopped at this old Saloon for lunch, real good burgers

My favorite pic of the day

Took the opportunity to climb a little hill, I got a pick at the top, my buddy has a few pics of the climb, I will post those when I get them.

After lunch we follow a power line road to an old dry lake bed

Ran along the tracks for a while, train went by at that time, kids went nuts over that

I got more pics to post later, internet is being slow right now

Up early I see Dave, nice scenery.

I got it registered and I was off to make a few changes here and there.

A big reason for acquiring "Filly" was the power plant. A bored .30, ported and polished, comp cam with an edlebrock intake and carb sparked by a msd dizzy 408. It was quite a health motor and one I always wanted to do myself. Buying an entire Bronco for about what it would run me to build a motor made more sense.
Image

Just needs a little paint here and there.

Needed to help it breath a bit better. Stock manifolds and a single exhaust out of a 2.5" pipe just wasn't enough for a 300hp motor.
Image

These should help

And to breath freely on both sides

Here are the rest of the pics from yesterday's trip

These are from the bottom of the hill, it was a steep little trail to the top

We stopped on the powerline road to air down one of the trucks that met us half way

This was before the trail started, airing down the tires, the Bronco is still clean lol

Back to the build pics tomorrow!

After I ran the 4 inch lift with 33's for about two years, it was time for some new tires. The 33's were great and I still had plenty of power with the built 300 but I really wanted to run 35's. I went to the tire shop and had them mount one 35x12.50x15 on a wheel to make sure they would fit and luckily they were perfect.

Next project on the truck was to find a new front bumper. I am really picky on appearance and like to keep the rig looking 'age appropriate'. For $40 I could not pass up this Smittybilt tube bumper. I cut off the existing brackets and welded two new brackets that sandwich the frame for added strength. Then I cut some steel for a winch plate and bolted it directly to the frame. Next, I am going to plate the opening between the winch plate and bumper so the winch can sit in an enclosed area.

Then I was got myself a set of tow hooks from a 97-03 F-150 for $5 and mounted one bolt through the frame and winch plate and the other bolt just through the winch plate.

I just picked up a Warn Hawse Fairlead and I'm going to mount it so that the opening matches up with the space between the tubes. It is the exact same size!

FOTM is great because it makes you finish projects that you have been putting off! haha

Last week I had a chance to go to the junkyard and pull a dual battery tray from an early 80's diesel. I sanded down the parts, primed and painted them to prevent and further corrosion. Instead of using the big goofy coolant overflow, I used Dorman product 603-001 and used three L brackets to mount it where the existing overflow was. It worked out perfectly using the new wiper fluid container because my old would leak if it was filled over half way. I also replaced all the bolts with grade 8 hardware.

After taking my top on and off all summer, I lost a few bolts. Whatever bolts I had were beginning to strip and the top was constantly squeaking and driving me crazy. I went to the hardware store and got beefier clips and real bolts. $15 for everything. All I had to do was open up the holes slightly so that the clip would sit flush. This modification is highly recommended.

And here is my helper! He will sit in the bronco all day while I work on it.

How about a little Round Up action?

This was the first event I attended with Filly. It was a good time to test out what she had.

Can you find Filly? How about Stuarts ride?

Above you see Filly, thinbluelines '95, Salts ride and then Harry 88bronco300

Look it's Stuart

And the MEB guy's telling me I can't have a line of 12 Broncos on one trail.

Okay guys, back to the build, or atleast what I call the Old Bronco Pics...

The very first excursion I took the Bronco on, what a blast that was. One of the best camping trip I have ever been on.

One of the wedges on the rear axle broke causing a nasty axle wrap which broke the rear u joint, spent about 45 minutes securing the rear axle and removing the rear drive line, pulled out in front wheel drive!

The final destination was definitely worth it though

Needless to say I had make to a change to the rear lift, shackle flip time, didn't get any pics pf that as it was a rush job to get my daily driver at the time back on the road. :twak
I did a shackle flip with an ORD Zero Rate to recenter the axle, no issues after that.

Hello ladies and gents! Im honored to be a part of this competition this is a first time for me, I was hoping to have my truck a little more intense before I ran but here goes nothing!

My names is Nick, I am 21 years old this is my 4th bronco and I've had over ten obs fseries in between. I finally decided I wanted to build a keeper that I will have for many years and hopefully one day strap my kids into. Mostly for offroad but will be trying to keep it relatively street friendly.

The day I bought her for $300 with a blown transmission. She was going to scrap and I decided to buy her and part it out so some people will get use out of it. As soon as I loaded it onto my trailer I knew I was keeping it:

and heres the most recent pictures:

Im going to try to post my entire build on here and somewhere mid month do some new mods and some wheeling. Good luck to the other contestants and thank you Joe for nominating me!

Nice looking rig Nick!

Good to see we are all in now, this is going to be on helluva good month.

Thought I would sneak in a bonus post before bedtime!
Here is a peek at the next mod, and honestly one of the best decisions I made, Holley TBI

And a preview of tomorrow's post, a fun little wheeling trip
