Does anone know if there is any aftermarket handles that can be installed in a Bronco to help someone pull themself up into the truck? These came stock on my 03 F-150 but I need them more on my Bronco cuz it's way higher and I'm old and my wife has a really bad back.:cry I saw a pic of one here I think but they were welded to the door frame.

Do a search - I recall someone adding them from different Ford trucks to the Bronco. They screwed through one of the holes that hold the interior trim in place, then added another hole with a long self tapping screw, and it seemed to be working. I remember the member saying they were hanging off of it with out issues.

They're called grab handles...as a I just found out and yeah I know they are out there but I thought maybe some enterprising member here might make them or????

2 things, I wouldnt trust them for pulling your self into the truck unless you reenforce them from the back of the sheet metal and if you get them do yourself a favor and dont use the screws that come with them. Go to a marine boat supply and get some stainless steel ones from them. The ones that come with the handles will most likely rust out in 3 months.

How about something inside? My wife is also short, & I added one over the door like this. She uses it all the time. Mine came from the junkyard, out of a Lincoln's back seat iirc (The handle came fro the JY, not the wife. I got her at the hardware store :toothless).
I put one on the pass. side.

If I had it to do over, I'd probably try to install one of these like you find in a Super Duty.
Mine is nut and bolted through the pinch weld with 4 1/4 20 Grade eight bolts

You could also take a walk through a junkyard....HUGH selection!

I'm curious that if you installed the A-pillar grip handles, what kind of both would you use that would allow for any significant weight. I was thinking about drilling holes in the pillar and using crush bolts or something similar, but how large would you need for this application. And, I haven't seen any of significant size that wouldn't be too long to fit in there to anchor properly.

i used some of those threaded c-clip thingies. drilled two holes per clip, one to install the clip and another for the screw. never had an issue. wish i knew what they where called. they are used on the fan shroud that i know.

Yeah, I know what you're talking about. I don't know if I would really trust them to hold any serious pulling though. I was thinking more like the wall anchors they sell to alloy you to bolt things behind walls and such that crunch in and collapse as you screw them in. Only I would think they'd need to be a bigger size than most wall anchors come in other than something used for masonry work and those would probably be too large/long to get started inside the pillar.

i dont have an issue with what i used, the screws are threaded and the metal of the truck holds the wieght not the anchor. i believe the pic with the
a-piller hold was bolted threw the pinch weld. i'll get some pics up of the install later
