Axle Widths

Not sure if this is the place to post my question but is there anywhere that has the axle dimensions for the old Fords? I put a Dana 60 front and rear in my 78 Bronco years ago but the wheel mounting surface on the front axle is noticeably wider than the rear and I want to correct it. I’m thinking I may need to go to either a Dana 70 rear or try to find a little bit wider rear Dana 60 if they exist.

The rear is out of my old 76 F250 4x4 and the front 60 is out of a 79 F250 4x4.

Thanks and sorry if this should be posted elsewhere.

IIRC, stock D44 was wider than stock 9" (WMS to WMS). I thought I remembered there was some handling characteristic as to why they did that.
I would post up exactly how much wider you are talking.

Yea I’ve seen that somewhere too. I haven’t measured yet but it has to be at least 2” wider on the front maybe more.
The front 60 is out of a 79 Snowfighter F250 and the back is out of my old 76 F250. The 79 prob came with the same width rear that I have now but hoping either there is a wider matching housing or maybe I would have to go to a 70 or maybe even a 14 bolt rear to get the same width.
I know, I’ve gotta start with knowing what I got….

D60 from an econoline will be wider than from a pickup. As will a 10.25. Fullsize econolines had the wider rear axles. The old 70s vans had the widest 9" available.

Was the f250 in 76 still a closed knuckle front axle? Half ton went open knuckle in 76 iirc. Which may be why one is wider than normal.

The statement about a wider track width in the front vs rear is true on FSBs. Usually about 2" wider up front total. This helps turning radii.
