sorry for the possible ignorance, i have been searching all afternoon for a company that makes/sells soft tops for this model.

i found them for broncs up to '77, and broncs starting at '80:doh0715:

im inheriting a '79 next month, and would love to put a soft top on...

you and everyone else buddy.
your best best is to keep searching hi and low on every bronco site known to man. because nobody is making them anymore. once in a while you might get lucky on ebay. but be ready to shell out some big cash. cause they arent cheap even being used. good luck.

I would love to have one too, but I was looking in a different direction, I wish there was a company that manufactured roll cages that you could weld in, then you could take it to a canvas shop, they do canvas tops for boats so making a top for a bronco would be a snap (no pun intended ). I already had a local shop make me a canvas back panel with an oval plastic window to replace my back glass, it is sweet.

i talked to numerous distributers on the phone today, and you guys are right, they all pretty much said the same thing.

i was just hoping someone might have a lead as to where the one place in the u.s. may have a few in stock:toothless

i wonder how hard it would be , and how close you could get, the "1980 and up" top to fit with a few jimmy rig mods, if any.

i never compared side to side the rears.

Oh for the love of gawd.............

Can we re-name the site to nobroncosofttops.com? :toothless

Stumpy.... Best chance is e-bay or craigslist nationwide search. Be prepared to fork over a 1st born or a testicle(of your choice) if you want a Skyler.

i looked into building them myself. but you pretty much have to do it like a real business . in order to buy supplies at wholesale and get good prices on the parts and you also have to buy it in a larger amount than what you need.
and getting the frame built is expensive to. every shop wants exact measure ments and a one time set up fee. i think 25 frames was gonna cost me $925.00 + shipping and if they didnt fit it was my own fault. then you got to buy canvas , zippers, windows ( cut to fit ) , straps, thread, snaps, etc.
then make patterns for the top so you can cut it out. then sew it all up .
and if it dont fit , take it apart and make adjustments until its right. then when its right you take it apart and make new pattern from that one. throw the old pattern and top in the trash and then start building them . its expensive and very time consuming. and the profit wouldnt be close enough to make you want to go through it all. then you got to hope you dont get taken to court for copyright laws from another co. that doesnt even make them anymore.
and back to the business part of it. the only way to purchase supplies at the lowest price you need a tax id number. which means uncle sam wants his share out of it. and a business id #.

that straight up sucks, no wonder all the businesses stopped making them, not enough customers to justify making them. guess i'lll just have to keep my eyes open and save up some cash, put the soft top dream on the back burner.

I guess I'll hold on to my old one then huh. I heard a rumor tho that someone bought stc and was gonna start re making them. But that was a while ago. I have an old one that needs new windows. guess I'll get that done.

I would take a $1000 bucks for it, I never really even considered selling it till the tops couldn't be had anymore. I saw how many people probably wanted it more than even I did. It's all black with black tinted windows, never been out of the box, fits 78 - 79 Bronco. I realize this has become something that probably did not belong in this thread.
