I went and bought myself the Filly from FordFilly as some of you might know. I couldn't pass up as nice a Bronco as this one is. With as much that has already been done to it. She's clean, straight and damn near everything I would have done to it myself. You're not going to see any big changes to this one. Just some upgrades I feel it needs or minor changes to meet my tastes.

The first couple of times I drove it I thought it need to be opened up a little in the exhaust area. I got to looking at what Judi had done to it and she spoke of adding headers. So I did that and added another muffler to make it true duals.

I finished up the wheels. I wanted a little shine out of them, ground the paint off to bare metal.

Then Mark (thin blue line) came over and we swapped out wheels.

Then we put the wheels on Marks, he's been having issues with MTR's not balancing. Headed to Rausch Creek. Don't need it shimmying for 300 miles.

I've got a few asthetic things to do prior to the RU. Almost done. Standby

Turbines fit the 78/79's really well, nice looking bronco Rick. Really like the shined up parts on the turbines, if Mine get painted that is what I am also going to do to them.

I got some new weather stripping on the door jambs, screwed down a new shinny carpet clam a ma jigger, installed a new stricker and re installed the rear carpet clamp. That's it for now. Round up bound tomorrow.

Loaded on the trailer for the trip.

No fullsize category, that would be a big step for them to do that. There have been some changes to the categories and rules for judging. I wire brushed them today and will do it again to get the last of the paint off. Thanks for the compliments guys. It's been tough getting things done the past week with other more important things and the heat(100* again today).

Round Up Review

Well the old girl did great at the Round Up. I can't complain at all but I can certainly brag. Lots of torque and hp to get the job done and then some. It rolled right down the trail in low range 4x4. I used very little pedal to do anything. I didn't take it on anything difficult so I didn't end up with any damage. The tires are a little scuffed and have a few cuts in them. I did learn that I'm going to need to shield the fuel line from the headers. They still get hot and start to boil the fuel in the line. Also had some trash either in the fuel bowls or the accelerator pump is going. Though I've yet to have the sputter the past three days going to work. I'm going to put a tach on it and see what I have rpm wise in 3rd. Then I'll decide about going 4.10's. I also want to soften up the springs. It's not too bad on the trails but it has too much bounce on the street. I just have to wait on WH's to get some more of their leafs in (back order). Stay tuned, I'll update as I do things. :beer

Thanks Dave!

Much of the weather stripping is in need pf replacing. I have or will be purchasing replacements . One of the first to replace was for the rear glass seal on the top.

I don't think this is going to allow for a good barrier.

This should have a cap on it.

Now a question on a jack in the cab.

Cb port?

#44 ·
Yes, that's the connector for the factory CB radio. Do you still have the mic hanger on the dash?

#46 ·
If you aren't going to put a factory CB back in hang on to those pieces. They are hard to come by.

:doh0715: That's who I was going to pm next. With a parts list and what he might have. The big wire harness is there, the box maybe not and I'm pretty sure the antenna isn't either.

This thing has some nice options for a custom and for it's age, ie intermentant wipers, lighted mirror visor. I think I was most excited about the wipers. We all know how no fun it is to reach for the knob every 5-10 seconds.

Fighting with these headers I installed. Had a clearance issue pop up on the pass side and a possibly a boiling fuel issue on the driverside.

Image

There is about an 1.5" clearance there between fuel line a header tube. The fuel filter would be a 1/8-1/4 full when hot. I had some adhesive backed heat shielding so I wrapped the fuel line. We will soon see how this does.

As for the pass side clearance here is what I have.

Yes Mark they are for this Bronco, We followed the instructions and felt it was a tight fit on that side. I'm going to give their tech line a call and see what they recommend. A 1/4" ain't much but it's still cutting the frame and there certainly ain't a lot of room to get in there and do that.
